Beautiful things sometimes come from unexpected places.

In my case, a small overcrowded corner of my garage.

That’s where the pottery equipment first began to infiltrate our home.

The pottery class seemed innocent enough at first. Spend some time with a friend! Play with mud for three hours a week for a few weeks! Bring home a (clearly) handmade mug!

Then a box of clay showed up in our house. Followed by another box. A few tools joined them, to help the clay be its best self. Some bottles of glaze wandered innocently in; somehow they’ve multiplied like bunnies. Of course, I had to have a wheel; wheel throwing is what I love most.

Piece by piece, my husband began to lose his beloved garage to the new obsession. When the finished pots threatened to overtake the house, it was time to share with the world.

I draw inspiration from the world around me: the ocean, plants sprouting from the ground in the spring, the carvings left by neolithic Celts. You won’t find many neutrals in my work — nature brings us every colour of the rainbow (literally) and I love them all!

The Fredericton region, where I live, is filled with talented potters and I am fortunate to be constantly learning from these artists.

I am also lucky to be able to focus on creating pieces that bring me joy - because we all need a little extra joy in our lives! That means that I don’t take commissions, although I can absolutely refer you to some talented local ceramicists who do.
