Caring for your hand crafted ceramics
-
This is functional art, and it is designed to be used!
Dinnerware (mugs, bowls, etc.) is dishwasher and microwave safe (although avoiding these will prolong the life of your piece).
-
The oil / vinegar cruet is super simple to use - pull out the spout, fill, and replace the spout!
If you notice the fins on the spout become bent over time, just run the plastic portion under hot water to relax them, and allow it to dry and cool down before replacing it in the bottle.
It is normal for a bead of oil/vinegar to remain on the spout after pouring; clean the spout periodically with a paper towel or cloth to avoid buildup.
-
Using the soap dispenser is easy! Pull the cork or rubber stopper out of the top, fill up the pot with soap, and wipe any soap from the opening before replacing the stopper (soap makes the surface more slippery and can affect the way the cork/stopper fits int he opening).

It is heartbreaking when your favourite pottery breaks. Ceramics are, unfortunately, fragile. It is important to handle them carefully to avoid stresses - this is one reason handwashing and not using your pieces in the microwave prolongs their life. It’s also important to avoid thermal shock - for example, never place a cold ceramic item in a hot oven, and don’t put a hot dish directly into the fridge. Allow the pieces to cool or warm up gradually.
